The Nederlandse Kunststoffen Chemie (NKC or Dutch Synthetics Chemistry in English) was founded in 1974 by Nico Schoenmacker (commercial director) and Guus Hartong (technical director). From a small business premises in Teuge, NKC supplied two-component coatings and synthetics for both private labels and with the NKC brand.
Due to growth, it was decided to build new business premises on the Emdenstraat, on the Kloosterlanden industrial estate in Deventer. NKC moved into its new premises in 1978. After Guus Hartong passed away in 1986, Marinus van den Beld was appointed technical director in December of that year.
In 1993 Nico Schoenmacker retired and Marinus van den Beld continued with NKC as sole director/major shareholder. The second generation of Van den Beld joined the company in 1997. Currently, the business is in the hands of Gerwin, Martin and Lia van den Beld.
Today, the strategy of expertise, customer engagement and sustainable innovation translates into the promise ‘NKC. Serving next grade performances.’
